Margarita Sotomayor
A lifetime in motion, art and storytelling.
Artist · educator · storyteller
From an early age, Margarita Sotomayor Salgado discovered a profound connection to the fine arts, with dance truly capturing her heart. Growing up in Puerto Rico, she immersed herself in the island's vibrant culture and went on to formally study Arts at the Universidad de Puerto Rico (UPR). Her education and natural talent quickly propelled her onto the stage, where she built a dynamic career as a performer. Long before relocating to the United States, Margarita was a featured dancer in major theatrical productions, high-energy shows, and concerts across the island, captivating audiences and honing her expressive abilities.
When Margarita eventually relocated to Florida, she brought her creative spirit with her and channeled it into a new calling: education. For over twelve years, she dedicated herself to nurturing young minds as a teacher, drama instructor, and art designer. She worked with students ranging from preschool to eighth grade, utilizing specialized training and the Montessori method to reach children of all abilities. By directing her school's theater program, Margarita created a collaborative space where students could discover their own creativity and build the confidence to secure a successful future.
Even while teaching, Margarita's hands were rarely still. Her love for the arts extended well beyond dance to include drawing, painting, sculpting, building, and design. In 2019, this lifelong curiosity and diverse skill set naturally drew her toward a new canvas: the film and production industry. She quickly adapted to the fast-paced environment, navigating roles in art direction, set design, and construction, earning the trust of her peers through her meticulous attention to detail on multiple shorts and feature films.
Today, Margarita brings the culmination of her journey—from the concert stages of Puerto Rico to the classrooms of Florida—into her own production company. Inspired by a lifetime of artistic exploration and the beautiful moments she shared with her students, she remains dedicated to producing compelling stories that both entertain and educate her community.
